New Record for UNIPRO
Nuevo Récord para UNIPRO

Our traditional auction of the first harvest of the year of our prestigious tomato from El Perelló has broken records. And it is because the Valencian tomato grown in our town is so rich due to the nutrients that our orchard has. This auction of our star product was a complete success. Thanks to the Casa Chiva restaurant, which was the highest bidder for this first harvest, the 50 kilos of tomatoes were sold for the sum of 4,250 euros. This surpassed the previous figure of 3,050 euros, recorded 2 years ago.

Our auction had the participation of 10 bidders between restaurants and associations. The twelfth edition was held at the 'José Antonio Gómez Marco' Cultural Centre. The bidding for the first 50 kilos of the cooperative's star product was intense. The winning restaurant is one of the most well-established catering establishments in the locality. And our local tomato is very present on their menu.

We also counted with the presence of our mayor José Cordoñer as well as the regional secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the GVA, Javier Bartolomé; the vice-president of the Diputació de València, Reme Mazzolari, and the municipal corporation of El Perelló.

At UNIPRO we always want to highlight "the great work of all the members and workers of the El Perelló Cooperative who, year after year, raise the quality of the Valencian tomato product and all its varieties". This action is in addition to those that we are planning together with the Town Council, through the Department of Tourism, to promote and disseminate the El Perelló tomato as a sign of identity of the coastal town of Ribera Baixa.
